ÖBB Annual Report 2025
Group Management Report 108 Österreichische Bundesbahnen-Holding Aktiengesellschaft Consolidated Financial Statements | Group Management Report 65 Action plans and resources related to the climate strategies ÖBB has defined and funded specific actions to implement the climate change mitigation and adaptation targets. Implementation depends on the availability of funds. ESRS E1-3.28, 29, AR 21 The associated decarbonization levers and key climate change mitigation actions as well as the necessary investments are described in the “Transition plan for climate change mitigation” at the beginning of the chapter. For the areas of mobility, buildings and Scope 3, initial portfolios of measures with detailed action plans are in place, which, where possible, are integrated into the budget and medium-term planning. The following information shows the summarized actions per decarbonization lever as well as their impact, financial coverage and the relationship to material impacts, risks and opportunities. ESRS E1-3.29.a, b; ESRS E1.MDR-A.68.a, b, c, e *) GHG reduction potential of the action from 2022 (base year) to 2035. In addition to its own decarbonization efforts, ÖBB is also implementing action plans with decarbonization effects for Austria – particularly modal shift to rail and bus – by upgrading capacity and competitiveness (improving quality/productivity) to increase transport volumes by rail and bus: doubling capacity in the railway network by 2040 and improving quality, for example through new rolling stock for rail and bus (impact on E1-A-1, E1-F-4, E1-F-5, E1-F-6).
