The targets are assigned to the levels of the remedial measures hierarchy. The key impacts of the double materiality analysis were taken into account when setting the target. No ecological thresholds were applied when setting the objectives. The defined targets are based on the Austria-wide Biodiversity Strategy 2030+, which was derived from the EU Biodiversity Strategy 2030. Stakeholders are involved via the double materiality analysis, but they are not specifically included in the target formulation. If a target or measure is behind schedule, this is explicitly stated. If any significant changes were made to an objective during the reporting year, this will be explained in the description of the methodology. No compensation measures are planned. When railway infrastructure is built, local residents are informed and involved in the process on a project-specific basis. In addition, nature-based solutions are implemented wherever possible in construction and maintenance measures. Target Construction of two wildlife crossing aids on the existing network by 2035 Status Target scope The objective comprises two areas on the ÖBB railway network where, due to (at least) a frequency-based barrier effect, from 2035, a wildlife crossing aid is necessary to achieve cross-traffic continuity of the wildlife corridors on the ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG and ASFiNAG network. After 2035, further options for wildlife crossings will be assessed. in implementation phase Methodology The identification and prioritisation of locations for wildlife crossing aids is performed in coordination between ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG and ASFINAG. Due to cost-cutting measures, this target has been revised downwards from three to two wildlife crossings compared with last year. Measures Planning of wildlife crossing aids The sites will be determined and specifications and accompanying measures for the crossing aids will be defined during the planning phase. in implementation phase Construction of wildlife crossing aids Construction of wildlife crossings or upgrading of existing structures as part of regeneration works to ensure and establish the continuity of wildlife corridors across different modes of transport. planned
