ÖBB Annual Report 2023

93 Group Management Report Österreichische Bundesbahnen-Holding Aktiengesellschaft Consolidated Financial Statements | Group Management Report 48 Equality/Diversity Management in the ÖBB Group An institutionalised system of regional equal opportunities officers operates within the ÖBB Group. It is responsible for compliance with the Equal Treatment Act, is the point of contact and ensures equal treatment for all employees. GRI 2-26 In 2023, the scope of application of the ÖBB Equal Treatment Policy, which has been in effect in the national ÖBB Group since 2011, was also extended to ÖBB’s foreign companies with more than 100 employees. Since 2022, all ÖBB apprentices in their first year of apprenticeship have been sensitised to equal treatment and familiarised with the internal system for ensuring equal treatment within the ÖBB Group. In addition, workshops with external expert systems such as “StoP” and “White Ribbon” have been held for ÖBB apprentices since 2023. Cooperation with the youth representatives was intensified. In 2023, a qualification and training campaign for managers and team coordinators was also launched with a focus on skills development: “Equal Treatment – Rights and Duties for Managers and Team Coordinators“, “Diversity & Inclusive Leadership“ and “Sexual Harassment in the Workplace“. Companies that promote diversity are attractive employers. Companies that promote diversity bring a wide range of skills to their teams, which also benefits customers, in this case travellers. Our own ÖBB diversity strategy, which applies to the entire Group, was endorsed in 2023 in order to achieve these goals both within the Group and on the market. The ÖBB Group has received several awards for its consistent work on diversity: the “Meritus Award” in 2017, the “Divörsity Award” in 2019, the “equalitA” seal of quality in 2020, the “SHEconomy Minerva Award” for the cross-mentoring programme in 2021 and the “Diversity Leader” award in 2022 (Financial Times). In 2023, the ÖBB Group improved from 447th to 116th place in the Europe-wide benchmark as a diversity leader and took third place in Austria behind Dynatrace Austria GmbH and Erste Bank Group. Increasing diversity A strategic diversity goal throughout the Group is to increase the proportion of women. The Women’s Career Index (FKI) was surveyed to promote this goal consistently and sustainably. An action catalogue for the sub-societies was drawn up with interviews following in-depth exploration. Preparations for implementation and monitoring were taken forward as the next step. A new indexation took place in 2023. The ÖBB Group in Germany was able to improve in all index areas and, with an overall index of 80 points, is well above average in the benchmark with other FKi-indexed companies. In addition, a variety of programmes contribute to empowerment: These include various cooperation and training programmes (including with AMS, ÖIF and various NPOs) or qualification offers (e.g. online training: “Strengthen your appearance! Appearance and negotiating skills in MAG“). Existing programmes for career development in digitalised form, as well as coaching for women, the cross-industry cross-mentoring programme and ÖBB networking events also serve this purpose. Other flagship projects: “SHE goes DIGITAL”, cooperation with the Austrian Integration Fund (project: “Compass – 100 women, 100 opportunities”) and the “You are our potential” campaign SHE goes DIGITAL: ÖBB is also doing its part to make digital professions more attractive for girls and women. Fear of contact is reduced and it is shown that digitalisation has already arrived and is omnipresent in all our professional fields (whether in operational or administrative areas). In 2022, the “SHE goes DIGITAL” project invited young women, women returning to work and women aged 50+ to discover the opportunities offered by digitalisation. They explored the corporate world of ÖBB and gained a practical insight into the extensive field of digitalisation. The project was initiated by Doris Schmidauer, Marlies Lenglachner and Dorothee Ritz. Many companies – such as A1, ASFINAG, Coca Cola and BRZ – are taking part in this initiative. In 2023, preparations were made for the “SHE goes DIGITAL 2024“ event. Cooperation with ÖIF: ÖBB also cooperates with the Austrian Integration Fund as part of the “Kompass – Career Paths for Immigrant Women” project in order to familiarise immigrant women with the wide range of career paths and job opportunities. The project provided relevant insights into the wide range of job opportunities within the ÖBB Group and shared information. The positive collaboration was continued in 2023. MR48 |
