Progress report compared to the prior year Explanations of trends in the GHG balance sheet: – Scope 1 emissions in the ÖBB Group fell by 2,175 tons in 2025 compared to the prior year. While a decrease of 4,346 tons was recorded in Austria, there was an increase of 2,172 tons in Scope 1 emissions internationally. These are primarily to be found in the mobility field, partly due to new fully consolidated subsidiaries in RCA. – ÖBB’s GHG emissions in Scope 2 fell by 5,215 tons in 2025 compared to 2024, of which 450 tons were in Austria and 4,767 tons internationally. – The ÖBB Group’s Scope 3 emissions fell by a total of 216,445 tons from 2024 to 2025 (prior year: 3,016,273 tons). This decline is primarily due to the significant reduction in the Scope 3.2 category (capital goods). Summary from a GHG perspective – with regard to the 2035 climate targets in Austria: – Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions in the mobility and buildings fields were further reduced in 2025 compared to the prior year. In the mobility field, emissions fell from 211,759 tons to 208,690 tons, and in the buildings field from 41,747 tons to 40,020 tons. – This means that a reduction of 17,525 tons (-7.7 %) was achieved in the mobility field (Scope 1 and Scope 2) in 2025 compared to the base year 2022. In the buildings field, the reduction amounts to 9,234 tons (-18.7%). – In order to achieve the goal of climate neutrality in both areas by 2035 (i.e. a 90% reduction in GHG emissions compared to the base year 2022), further GHG reduction action plans will be required over the next ten years.
