With the timetable change on December 14, 2025, a new chapter in rail transportation began for the south of Austria. The commissioning of the Koralm Railway and the introduction of a state-of-the-art Interregio network mark the beginning of a new era. A region with 1.1 million inhabitants now has a dense transportation network as it develops into a conurbation and takes its place in the center of Europe. The half-hourly service runs 33 times a day from Vienna to Graz (instead of 18 times) and 29 times a day from Graz to Klagenfurt (instead of the previous 8 times by bus). This means that no other provider travels south as often as ÖBB. Not only that: a modern Interregio network with five lines is now breathing new life into inner-Alpine rail trans- portation. Interregio trains now run every one or two hours between Graz and Linz, Graz and Innsbruck, Graz and Maribor, and Graz and Klagenfurt. Optimal connections HIGHLIGHTS 2025
