ÖBB Annual Report 2025
Group Management Report 122 Österreichische Bundesbahnen-Holding Aktiengesellscha ft Consolidate d Financial Statements | Group Manag ement Report 79 Targets and actions related to biodiversity and ecosystems The following table provides an overview of the key targets related to biodiversity and ecosystems in the ÖBB Infrastruktur sub-group. The targets are assigned levels based on the mitigation hierarchy. ESRS E4-4.31; ESRS E4.32.d, f The material impacts from the double materiality analysis were considered when setting the targets. No ecological threshold values were applied when determining the targets. The defined targets are based on the Austria-wide Biodiversity Strategy 2030+, which was in turn derived from the EU Biodiversity Strategy 2030. Stakeholders are involved through the double materiality analysis, but are not specifically involved in the formulation of targets. ESRS 2.MDR-T-80.h The following section provides information on actions related to biodiversity and ecosystems. If a target or measure is behind schedule, this is explicitly indicated. If a significant change was made to a target in the reporting year, this is explained in the description of the methodology . ESRS 2.MDR-T 80.i No offsetting actions are planned. During the construction of railroad infrastructure, residents are informed or involved in the process on a project-specific basis. In addition, nature-based solutions are implemented wherever possible for construction and maintenance actions. ESRS E4-3.27; ESRS E4-3.28.b, c; ESRS E4-4.32.e Target Construction of two wildlife crossing aids on the existing network by 2035 Status 1) Target scope 2) The target includes two areas in the ÖBB route network where, due to (at least) a frequency-based barrier effect, there will be a need for a wildlife crossing aid from 2035 to ensure the continuity of wildlife corridors on the ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG and ASFiNAG network. Further options for wildlife crossing aids will be evaluated after 2035. Being implemented Methodology 3) Identification and prioritization of sites for wildlife crossing aids is carried out in coordination between the ÖBB Infrastruktur sub-group and ASFINAG. Due to financial savings, this target was adjusted from three to two wildlife crossing aids compared to the prior year. Action Planning of wildlife crossing aids 4) 5) The locations are determined and specifications and accompanying actions for the crossing aids defined during the planning process. Being implemented Construction of wildlife crossing aids 4) 5) The construction of crossing aids or the upgrading of existing structures is carried out in the course of renovation work to ensure and establish the cross-modal continuity of wildlife corridors. Planned 1) ESRS 2.MDR-T.80.j; ESRS 2.MDR-A.68.e. 2) ESRS 2.MDR-T.80.c. 3) ESRS 2.MDR-T.80.a, f, g. 4) ESRS 2.MDR-A.68.a, b, c. 5) The action is implemented at the level of the ÖBB Infrastruktur sub-group. | MR79 E.
