This includes for instance the new TransFER Sopron-Arad as another direct connection with a fixed timetable. 200 years of the railroad A new era began on Septem- ber 27, 1825 to the day: the first train – a steam locomo- tive pulling 36 cars – traveled the 40-kilometer railway route from Stockton to Darlington in England. In Austria, the railroad started operating 187 years ago. To mark the occasion, the Vienna Museum of Science and Technol- ogy opened the special exhibition “Under the spell of the railway. 200 years of train travel”. 2025 The second half of the year ÖBB Spullersee power plant: a century of sustainable energy With the 100th anniversary of the ÖBB Spuller- see power plant, ÖBB and the surrounding re- gion celebrated a major milestone in the history of sustainable energy generation and railway power supply. Timetable published for new Koralm Railway A new timetable with a historic mile- stone: a completely new railroad line goes into operation in Austria for the first time in decades with the launch of the Koralm Railway. This opens up unprecedented attractive travel opportunities. JUL 21 JUL 14 SEP 27 SEP 16 Tauern line goes back into operation following modernization The Tauern line was extensively modernized during an eight- month closure between Schwarz ach / St. Veit and Mallnitz.
