The reporting requirements relate to accidents at work and (confirmed) occupational diseases that are causally related to the work performed. In principle, the employer has no information regarding the nature of an employee’s illness, nor does it have the right to be informed of the diagnosis. For this reason, ÖBB is unable to provide any data on this matter. However, the number of occupational diseases was recorded for the first time in 2024. Five cases were recorded for 2025 (previous year: 7) involving noise-induced hearing loss and two cases of skin conditions resulting from UV exposure (previous year: 0).
