13/01 Rail Cargo Group sets up subsidiary in Serbia Serbia is the 13th country in Eu- rope where RCG offers sustainable rail freight transport under its own traction management. Rail Cargo Carrier – Southeast d.o.o focuses on transit transport between Turkey and Central and Southeast Europe. This should strengthen RCG’s market leadership position in Turkey. 16/02 4-track extension on the Western line There is currently hardly any capacity for additional trains between Linz and Wels. ÖBB is working intensively on the four- track extension of the Marchtrenk – Wels section. This will create the conditions for a denser S-Bahn system in the Linz-Wels area, an integrated regular-interval timeta- ble and an overall improvement in regional and express train services. 17/03 Vienna S-Bahn gets an upgrade Nowhere else in Austria are passenger numbers rising as strongly as in the Eastern region. Public transport services must accordingly also be expanded and improved. The upgrade for the Vienna S-Bahn is an in- vestment in the future of local transport networks in and around Vienna by ÖBB, the Ministry of Climate Protection and the City of Vienna. 17/01 ÖBB celebrates its 100th anniversary The history of ÖBB began in 1923, precisely on 19 July, when the National Council passed the Federal Railways Act. To mark the start of ÖBB’s anniversary year, a special Railjet will be officially “christened” and sent on its journey at the beginning of 2023. The seven-part train is adorned with 100 reasons to work for ÖBB. These come from the ÖBB team – from 100 ÖBB employees from a wide range of professions. 12/01 Together with the ÖBB team #Towards TheFuture – 3,500 new employees wanted ÖBB is in the midst of a major generational change, as approx. one fifth of ÖBB employees will retire by 2027. This is why the mobility and logistics service provider is looking for approx. 3,500 new employees every year. January–March 2023 News in brief 01/02 Mungos becomes ÖBB-Operative Services. It became apparent that “Mungos” is hardly known in the labour market. Mungos Sicher & Sauber, a 100% subsidiary of ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG since 2005, is therefore being renamed ÖBB-Operative Services. 02/03 Appointments to the Executive Board. Logistics expert Christoph Grasl is the new RCA Management Board Member for “Market and Sales” Ralf Mair is appointed as the new Managing Director of ÖBB-Produktion GmbH for three years. 10/03 Koralm railway: final construction phase starts. The structural work on the section between Feldkirchen and Weiten- dorf has been completed. The work is to proceed without inter- ruption with the installation of modern railway technology.
