03/12 Major security exercise at the Vienna central shunting station At the beginning of December, the central transfer station in Vienna becomes the scene of an emergency drill involving ÖBB, professional rescue services, the professional fire brigade, the police and the Vienna Health Association. More than 300 employees and approx. 130 performers take part in the exercises. 12/10 ÖBB and Go-Ahead Germany enter into a partnership for the future Go-Ahead Verkehrsgesellschaft Deutschland GmbH will continue to operate as an independent company. It currently employs approx. 1,000 people and is an important player in local rail passenger transport with its two operating companies in Bavaria and Baden- Württemberg and a total of 144 modern electric multiple units. 07/12 “All clear!” for the Koralm Railway in Kärnten On the 10th December, two years before the Koralm Railway is completed, the entire section on the Kärnten side between Klagen­ furt and St. Paul im Lavanttal has gone into operation for local transport – including the modernised Lavanttal Railway and the Bleiburger Loop. 03/10 First test goods train arrived from Ukraine The Rail Cargo Group (RCG) in cooperation with the Ukrainian state railway (UZ) is connecting Ukraine to its intermodal network TransNET. A test train travelled from Kyiv to the BILK rail cargo terminal in Hungary at the end of September, transporting non-craneable semi-trailers with building materials by rail. 10/12 Premiere journey of the new Night- jet to Hamburg The new-generation Nightjet is the flagship of European night train services. The timetable change will be first used on the Vienna – Hamburg and Inns- bruck – Hamburg routes.
