Highlights 2023 493.6 mil. passengers used ÖBB’s mobility services in 2023 , of which 231.7 million travelled on local trains, 46.5 million on long-distance services and 215.4 million on the Postbus. 78.5 mil. t of freight were transported by the Rail Cargo Group in 2023. To do so, the RCG is present in 18 countries, in 13 of which it operates under its own traction management. 45,041 staff members were employed by ÖBB in 2023 (as at 31.12.2023), including 1,851 apprentices in training. In addition, 191 apprentices were employed through the Allgemeine Privatstiftung für berufliche Bildung (private foundation for vocational training). 19 billion euros are being invested in modern and efficient railway infrastructure on behalf of the federal government up to 2028.
